Executive Director
Cass Lake Area Food Shelf
10-20 hours weekly; flexible hours

Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall management and operation of the
food shelf, ensuring that it effectively serves the community's needs. The ED reports to the
Board of Directors and works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Leadership and Management:
- Provide visionary leadership to the organization.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Supervise and support staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work
environment.
2. Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement programs that align with the organization's mission and goals.
- Ensure the food shelf is stocked with adequate supplies and that food distribution is
managed effectively.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.
- Promote Fund Raising Events
3. Financial Management:

Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

Oversee fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor relations, and community events.

Ensure financial stability and accountability through sound financial practices.
4. Community Engagement:

Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to the community, and other stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, donors, and volunteers.

Advocate for the needs of the food shelf and its clients within the community.

Media – Any communication related to the press must be approved by the Board of Directors before being published.
5. Board Relations:
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans.
- Provide regular updates to the Board on organizational performance and key issues.
- Support the Board in its governance and fundraising roles.
6. Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Business Administration).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization.
- Strong organizational, financial management, and fundraising skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for the mission of the food shelf and a commitment to serving the community.
- Experienced in working with diverse cultures.
- Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Business Administr

CLAFS News
CLAFS BOARD MEETING
CLAFS Board Meeting. The Cass Lake Area Foodshelf met on November 24th. During the meeting, members discussed the organization's website, social media presence, potential fundraisers, and concerns regarding new donations. The group highlighted how these platforms could inspire new donations and increase engagement. An update on the organization’s financial status was also provided, and plans to sign up for Tech Soup—a program that offers free and discounted software—were mentioned. Tyrone suggested scheduling a meeting on December 12th to allow everyone more time to spend with family and friends during the holiday season.
Other Discussions.
We highlighted the importance of improving the organization's website and social media presence. This improvement will involve creating more engaging content and implementing effective strategies to drive people to our main website and Facebook page. The goal is to increase community engagement and outreach.
During the meeting, the team engaged in a thorough discussion regarding the acceptance of donations to support our initiatives. They particularly focused on the ongoing "Give to the Max" campaign, which aims to raise funds for our projects and outreach efforts. As of the current date, it was noted that there have been no new contributions received since the campaign's launch. The team explored various strategies to encourage more donations, emphasizing the importance of community involvement and outreach to potential donors.
The treasurer reported on the organization's financial status, including a recent $1,000 donation.
